Lincoln High School
Hamilton Middle School 2009

If you live in or near the Wallingford District, you have probably been following the ongoing saga of our old high school and its neighbor, Hamilton International Middle School. Since most members of the LHS Class of 1953 do not fall in that category, here is an update:

Lincoln has been the temporary home of several high schools since its formal closure in 1981 - Ballard, Roosevelt and Garfield. At one time there was consideration given to moving Hamilton students into our building permanently. Those plans have changed. Funding for construction for a remodeled Hamilton was included in the February 2007 school levy. The Hamilton program moved temporarily to the Lincoln site in the Fall of 2008 for two years. Hamilton should be in a newly renovated building for the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year. A School Design Team of faculty, administration, staff, parents, and community members began meeting regularly in the Winter of 2006 to define the school's requirements and work towards a building design.

In 2006 a landmark nomination application for recognition by the City of Seattle of the Hamilton building was prepared. The status of that application is unknown. You may find the application interesting. It may be reviewed here.
